RODENTS

  • Tips for detouring Rodents....

  • By checking & sealing up entry points such as windows, doorways, plumbing, dryer vents & chimney caps can help to not only keep cold air out but to also help prevent rodents from entering structures.

  • Something to keep in mind is a mouse can squeeze through a hole the size of a nickel & rats can squeeze through holes the size of a quarter.

  • Boxes should be up off of the ground in storage areas since rodents love to make their homes in these type of places.

  • Pet food & bird seeds should be kept in sealed storage containers to prevent easy access. You may also have to put your pet food bowls out during feeding times only to gain control.

  • Make sure trash is in bags & outdoor trashcans have tight fitting lids.

  • Some other things that can be done outside of the home are to keep large firewood stacks off of the ground & away from the structure.

  • Keep limbs & shrubs trimmed back from the structure by at least 12" & also try to keep leaves blown back from structures to detour rodents.

  • Check for any wood rot around soffits & eave areasĀ  which could provide a easy entry point for rodents.

  • Check for leaky faucets around the home & make sure gutters & downspouts are draining properly away from the home.
